Islamophobia in Britain: The Products, The Names and The Faces

Islamophobia has made it to the market place. In the open and shamelessly cafepress.co.uk offers hundreds of anti Muslim and anti Arab products: T-shirts, caps babysuits etc’. Yet, make no mistake, Cafepress is not an ordinary xenophobic retailer driven by some crude ‘universal’ bigotry. As much as the site offers very many pro Jewish, pro Israeli, pro war , anti Arab and anti Muslim commodities, it doesn’t offer a single anti Jewish, anti Semitic, anti Black, anti Polish or anti Immigrant commodity. This is indeed very good news. Yet, the manifold of anti Muslim and pro Jewish products is staggering, especially in the context of the absence of any other hate driven products.

IMRAN KHAN: DON’T BLAME PAKISTAN FOR THE FAILURE OF THE WAR

Veterans Today

It is unfortunate that the US was unable to use the window of opportunity that it had in the immediate aftermath of the removal of the Taleban Government in late 2001. It could have brought in a truly broad-based Afghan government and invested in the development of the country. Instead, it continued its military actions and brought corrupt and criminal elements into power in Kabul.
Before the West invaded Afghanistan my country had no suicide bombers, no jihad and no Talebanisation

There is now a general recognition that the war in Afghanistan cannot be won militarily. All the Taleban have to do to win is not to lose. The Americans won’t stay and everybody knows that.

Airport cleaners filmed on CCTV looting passengers' suitcases for valuables

It's something many air travellers have long suspected was happening when their luggage was out of sight.

Now here is the proof that once your bags are checked in at the airport, there’s no telling whose hands it may fall into.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Heathrow Airport (called "Thief-row" by experienced travelers) is one of the worst. I had a walkman player looted from my luggage going through there some years back. Apparently the unions for airport workers are so strong there that nothing can be done.

Queen Elizabeth Fronts for Rothschilds ("Crown")

It is accurate to posit that Australia, New Zealand and Canada are not independent, sovereign countries. However, these nations are not owned and run by the UK; they are owned and run by the House of Windsor Crown Temple syndicate within the City of London Corporation. The head signatory of the Crown Temple syndicate is Elizabeth Windsor (Queen Elizabeth II of England).

It should not be forgotten that the most powerful financial syndicate in the Western World is that of the European Rothschilds. The Rothschilds, because of their power base inside the City of London Corporation, have a controlling membership of the London Crown Temple syndicate, and they also have executive control of the Vatican and the Mafia though the P2 Masonic Lodge in Italy.

Chas Freeman – Nixon Center debate, “Israel; Asset or Liability?”

Is Israel a strategic asset or liability for the United States?

Interesting question. We must thank the Nixon Center for asking it. In my view, there are many reasons for Americans to wish the Jewish state well. Under current circumstances, strategic advantage for the United States is not one of them. If we were to reverse the question, however, and to ask whether the United States is a strategic asset or liability for Israel, there would be no doubt about the answer.

The United States Remains a British Colony:

"In the mid-1700s the American Colonies were prospering, in part because they were issuing their own money called "Colonial Scrip," which was strictly regulated and did not require the payment of any interest. When the bankers in Great Britain heard this, they turned to the British Parliament, which passed a law prohibiting the Colonial Scrip, forcing the colonists to accept the "debt" or "fiat" money* issued by the Bank of England. Contrary to what history teaches, the American Revolution was not ignited by a tax on tea. According to Benjamin Franklin, it was because "the conditions [became] so reversed that the era of prosperity ended." He said:

Dear International Olympics Committee (IOC)

We, the undersigned citizens of the world, call on the international Olympics Committee to rescind Israel's participation in the London 2012 Olympics.

Via Ben Smith at Politico, we learn that the usual suspects have started yet another organization whose objective is to promote a hard-right, Likudnik agenda in the Middle East. The new group apparently intends to go after anyone who thinks U.S. Middle East policy has been less than totally successful in recent years, and who is willing to think for themselves (and U.S. interests), instead of reflexively echoing the positions favored by AIPAC and other groups in the “status quo” lobby.

RAMAKRISHNAN: Mahatma Gandhi rejected Zionism

Australians for Palestine – Providing a Voice

Gandhi’s major statement on the Palestine and the Jewish question came forth in his widely circulated editorial in the Harijan of 11 November 1938, a time when intense struggle between the Palestinian Arabs and the immigrant Jews had been on the anvil in Palestine. His views came in the context of severe pressure on him, especially from the Zionist quarters, to issue a statement on the problem. Therefore, he started his piece by saying that his sympathies are all with the Jews, who as a people were subjected to inhuman treatment and persecution for a long time.

Stuart Littlewood reviews ‘This Time We Went Too Far’ by Norman Finkelstein

Special for My Catbird Seat

“The Gaza invasion marked the climax of Israel’s descent into barbarism”

Quite simply, this is a cracker of a book and very timely.

In explaining how Israel’s war on Gaza in 2008/9 was not the defensive action it is always painted, Norman Finkelstein recalls the 1947 UN partition of historic Palestine and remembers how, in 1957, US President Eisenhower forced Israel to withdraw from Gaza by threatening sanctions and in the 1967 war Israel re-occupied it.

The book then takes us through the warm-up for the 2008/9 war and the subsequent whitewash.

Olympia Food Co-op removes Israeli goods from shelves; first US store to institute boycott

By Haitham Sabbah

Olympia, WA– The Olympia Food Co-op Board of Directors has decided to boycott Israeli goods at their two locations in Olympia, Washington. At a July 15th meeting packed with Co-op members, the Board reached this consensus. The Co-op becomes the first US grocery store to publicly join the international grassroots movement for boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) on Israel for its human rights abuses.

Co-op board member Rob Richards explained, “My hope is that by being the first in the US to adopt the boycott we act as a catalyst for other co-ops to join in. Each additional organizational entity that joins may have a very small effect on the big picture, but drop by drop fills the tub.”

GORDON DUFF: Our Unreported Cold War With Israel

OUR UNREPORTED ”COLD WAR” WITH ISRAEL

9/11 was like Pearl Harbor to America, uniting many, awakening bitter skepticism in a few. Where Pearl Harbor began America’s official role in crushing the Fascist juggernaut that threatened to dominate the world, 9/11 had quite the opposite effect. America’s response to 9/11 was oppression at home and a tirade of frenzied phobic reactions around the world. No American institution suffered more than the military. The team of Cheney and Rumsfeld, together since the disastrous Nixon years, began a process of purging America’s military of talent and leadership, instead building a force to serve a sinister agenda of religious heresy and extremist politics.

‘NHS doesn't care about cost of medicine’: Drugs firms accused of profiteering by raising prices by ONE THOUSAND per cent

Drugs companies making everyday medicines for the NHS are facing claims of profiteering after imposing huge price rises for commonly prescribed drugs.

The increases – some as high as 1,000 per cent in just two years – coincided with some of the firms involved earning massive profits.

One company boss said the NHS ‘doesn’t care what it costs’.

The medicines are not new innovative products developed by pharmaceutical companies after enormous investment in research and development.

Instead, they are unbranded so-called ‘generic’ drugs which have been available for many years and include commonly used antibiotics prescribed to millions of patients.

Gilad Atzmon: British Jews Support Israeli War Crimes

The Jewish community in Britain seems to be over the moon. A survey that was published a few days ago suggests that British Jews are nothing but ‘peace lovers’. The Guardian was also quick to report that 77% of “British Jews favour a 'two-state solution' in Israel”.

In practice, this actually means that at least 77% of British Jews believe that millions of dispossessed Palestinians should continue to dwell in refugee camps and never be allowed to their homes, cities, and villages. I am actually far from impressed with British Jewry’s inclination towards peace.

Iroquois lacrosse team misses on first game

NEW YORK, N.Y. - There were cheers and hollers aboard the Iroquois Nationals lacrosse team bus on Thursday as the players geared up for a very different encounter than what they had planned for Day 1 of the World Lacrosse Championships in England.

Instead, with the Statue of Liberty in the background, team members got into uniform and filed out of the bus to pose for a gaggle of journalists and repeat their case for a few TV cameras: They should be allowed into England for the games using their Iroquois-issued passports. Why would the British demand they use U.S. and Canadian passports when they don't consider themselves citizens of those nations?

EU to subject Britons to chilling new 'Big Brother' surveillance and investigation powers

British citizens face being subjected to chilling new EU 'Big Brother' surveillance and investigation powers.

Other EU countries could demand the personal details of entire plane-loads of holidaymakers, and force hard-pressed British police to trail suspects on their behalf.

Blair certainly did what he "thought was right" for Tony Blair. Shockingly, he fought a long battle to conceal the source of his new-found wealth, and only this month did it finally become public that one of his largest clients was a South Korean oil company, the UI Energy Corporation, with extensive interests in Iraq ... he has also made £1million from advising the Kuwaiti royal family. It can be fairly claimed that Blair has profiteered as a result of the Iraq War in which so many hundreds of thousands of people died ... in the league of shame, Tony Blair is arguably the worst of them all."

The Beginning of the End? The Dwindling of Afghanistan's Coalition of the Willing

The British government’s decision to withdraw troops from Sangin in Helmand province marks a watershed in the relentless conflict in Afghanistan. The military mission has been very costly for the United Kingdom, with a third of the total casualties sustained in one district alone. More than a hundred lives of soldiers lost and many more wounded coming home is a sign of how difficult the mission has been. In a classic display of guerrilla tactics of asymmetrical warfare, the armed opposition has refused to fight a modern army equipped with high-tech weaponry on its enemy’s terms. Instead, the insurgents have fought on their terms, using rudimentary explosive devices and small weapons with devastating effect. Reaction of Afghans in Sangin will shock many in Britain.

Am I Already Dead?

I teach physics in a secondary school; GCSE* (for 15-16 year olds) and Advanced Level(for 17-18 year olds). I've been doing this on and off for the last 39 years.

I have always been regarded by colleagues as a fairly effective teacher. My pupils normally achieve satisfactory or better grades.

When I first left teaching in the early 1980's I was a head of department. I found that I did not like the way things were shaping up with the Thatcher government. When Sir Keith Joseph suggested that voluntary extra-curricular activities (training a football team and taking them to a match on Saturdays, say) be written into teachers' contracts that was, for me, a final straw.

Schools run on good will. This is basic.

It’s impossible to know what goes on in the Oval Office. All the public sees is photo-ops and scripted comments. Was Barack Obama’s adoration of the Israeli Prime Minister meant as a subtle manipulation? Was this “keep your friends close and your enemies closer?”

If so, that would be good news for the U.S. provided he grasps that he’s been played for a fool—with the help of his top advisers. His political career is a product of the Chicago Outfit, including his presidency. Can he rise above that? I need to believe that he can.

An American “Terrorist” in London

By Kenneth O’ Keefe
Welcome to Orwell’s ‘1984’ ladies and gentlemen, where black is white, white is black, and the truth is nothing but a word.

My 1984 reality is culminating with the United States and Israeli Governments treating me and/or charging me with being a “terrorist”. Church mission preaches Christians must love and defend Israelis

Stuart Littlewood exposes the contradictions, hypocrisy and un-Christian essence of a “Christian” Zionist body known as “the Church’s Ministry among Jewish People”, which despite being an apologist for Israeli crimes against Palestinian Christians and Muslims, is an official ministry of the Church of England – in effect its official Zionist wing.

Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussing their countries’ foreign relations resembles two lovers discussing their future together. ME, GENERAL PETRAEUS & THE ISRAEL LOBBY

MJ Rosenberg

Some readers think I exaggerate the influence of the lobby. I don’t — I used to work at AIPAC and on its favorite stomping ground, Capitol Hill. The latest evidence of the fear and trembling produced by the Israel lobby was evidenced last week when it was revealed that General David Petraeus was upset and worried by a column I wrote in March.

The old adage “politics stops at the water’s edge” does not apply to the Middle East.

When it comes to all matters relating to Israel, foreign policy is politics. It is absolutely impossible to imagine US policy toward Israel not being intertwined with politics and political fund-raising.

Labour wasted thousands on developing Government apps for iPhones

Tens of thousands of pounds were squandered by Labour on developing software for the iPhone, it emerged yesterday.

Ministers sanctioned the development of the applications, with costs for each running as high as £40,000.

They included a travel advice tool for the Foreign Office, an NHS application to let you track your drinking habits and a DVLA 'motoring masterclass'.

There was even one for jobseekers to find out about vacancies - though critics might argue whether someone who can afford an iPhone would need such a tool.

Did 9/11 Justify the War in Afghanistan?

Using the McChrystal Moment to Raise a Forbidden Question

By Prof. David Ray Griffin

Global Research, June 25, 2010

There are many questions to ask about the war in Afghanistan. One that has been widely asked is whether it will turn out to be “Obama’s Vietnam.”1 This question implies another: Is this war winnable, or is it destined to be a quagmire, like Vietnam? These questions are motivated in part by the widespread agreement that the Afghan government, under Hamid Karzai, is at least as corrupt and incompetent as the government the United States tried to prop up in South Vietnam for 20 years.

Letters From Palestine

By Kenneth Ring

I seldom read books from cover to cover. But when Kenneth Ring sent me his Letters from Palestine with a note saying “Here’s my baby,” I couldn’t put it down.

Ken presents a collection of personal stories from Palestinians, inside and outside the occupied territories, that provide penetrating insights – sometimes harrowing, sometimes funny, always fascinating – into their daily lives and thoughts. The Global Political Awakening and the New World Order

The Technological Revolution and the Future of Freedom, Part 1
by Andrew Gavin Marshall at Globalresearch.ca.

There is a new and unique development in human history that is taking place around the world; it is unprecedented in reach and volume, and it is also the greatest threat to all global power structures: the ‘global political awakening.’ The term was coined by Zbigniew Brzezinski, and refers to the fact that, as Brzezinski wrote:

For the first time in history almost all of humanity is politically activated, politically conscious and politically interactive. Global activism is generating a surge in the quest for cultural respect and economic opportunity in a world scarred by memories of colonial or imperial domination.[1]

How many peace activist should die on the high seas before we all say NO MORE? How many British workers will need to lose their jobs, homes and hopes before we can allow ourselves to say NO to Zionist wars and to their advocates in our midst?”

Is it called poetic justice?

Rex Williams and Earl Aiman

“What can we do to stop them from hating us?”

Simple! Stop acting like a tyrant.

“The new American Tyranny,” … nothing new, actually!

Prior to 1776 the British Colonies of the New world practiced British tyranny against the native American and the French colonists of North America. Post 1776, the practiced the “New American” tyranny against what remained of the Native American, and the Spanish Colonial in North America. And when they were all subdued or brought to heel, went on to export it overseas, product which they have continued to export ever since, in an ever greater degree.

We have become the tyrant which we overcame to escape, and we have assumed his mantle and the hatred of our own victims of tyranny.

The cost to British taxpayers of fighting, diplomacy and reconstruction in Afghanistan and Iraq since the 9/11 attacks has passed £20 billion, official figures reveal.

But the total does not cover expenses like troops' basic salaries or long-term care for the seriously wounded, and the final price is likely to be much higher.

Why they hate America

By Paul Balles

Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid, tells of a polite Oklahoman who held a copy of his latest novel, “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” and examined the face on its cover, comparing it to Hamid’s.

The Oklahoman then said to the Muslim writer, nodding once as if to dip the brim of an imaginary hat: “So tell me, sir. Why do they hate us?”

Hamid then goes on to voice the propaganda he’d been fed, attributing it to envy, adding, “The richest, most powerful country in the world attracts the jealousy of others in much the same way that the richest, most powerful man in a small town attracts the jealousy of others.”

Of course, the Washington Post who published Hamid’s article devoured his explanation as if he was serving them and the country a lesson in deserved pride.

TIM KING : Wall Street Journal Launches Special Tel Aviv Operation

The WSJ defends Israel’s deadly apartheid politics, but then what would you expect?
(SALEM, Ore.) – Who should be surprised that the media group named for the biggest curse in America is decidedly pro-Israeli? Why would anyone fall over in shock that the Wall Street Journal laments the role of the killer, while demonizing those who simply seek world peace?

Their newest article, ‘Israel and the Surrender of the West’ tears into the notion of “world opinion” as if a global view is some kind of liability. I guess it is for Israel after the deadly flotilla incident[1].

WSJ writer, Shelby Steele, seems to really wrinkle her nose over the bigger picture:

History Made June 20th in San Francisco–Dockworkers Refuse to Cross Picket Line to Unload Israeli Cargo ship in Oakland

Message from the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions(PGFTU)

To our respected sisters, brothers and comrades in the trade unions, labor councils and workers’ organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Since the beginning of the workers’ struggles in your country – the United States of America – international solidarity has been a constant part of workers’ organizing and struggle in solidarity with workers and people facing injustice everywhere in the world. We, the workers and the people of Palestine are suffering under oppression of the Israeli occupation of our land and people. This occupation began long ago, the longest-lasting occupation of the modern era.

Cutting Through the Confusion about Israel/Palestine

This is long but worth a read...

By Richard Forer

[A letter I wrote to a college student who had written the Coalition to Stop $30 Billion to Israel asking the group to remove a billboard that said "Tell Congress. Stop Killing Children. No More Military Aid to Israel." The billboard was erected in Albuquerque in the Spring of 2009 after the Gaza catastrophe. I was the spokesperson.]

How to Win a War When Losing? Dialogue with Taliban…

By Debbie Menon

No, dialogue is NOT a solution! It is merely another, quite common, much overused, abused, and never quite successful method of attempting, or pretending to attempt, to find or describe a solution; and it is usually compromised by bad faith on the part of one, two or all parties. Furthermore, it takes the bad faith of but one participant to thoroughly compromise it, and turn it into a strategic tool for forestalling the search for a solution, perpetuating the status quo, or worse.

History has demonstrated this.

Australian Unions act to isolate Israel

The movement for Australian union action against Israel is gaining strength after the apartheid state’s latest murderous attack on the unarmed aid flotilla to Gaza.

The South Coast Labour Council (SCLC) and the New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory branches of the Australian Services Union have joined the Construction Forestry Mining Energy Union in committing to the international boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaign against the aggressive Israeli state.

Australian unions and peak bodies have also called on members to attend the many protest actions.

Mohamed Khodr : The Final Turkel Commission Report

July 4, 2010

Submitted To:

The Most Honorable Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu

In response to the world’s outrage (except the U.S.) against Israel’s May 31st murderous attack on peace activists aboard the “Free Gaza Flotilla” delivering humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza, Benjamin Netanyahu and his Cabinet on Monday, June 14, 2010 voted in favor of creating an internal commission called the “Independent Public Commission” that includes three Israelis and two foreign observers to investigate the legality and circumstances of the IDF’s raid on the Flotilla that led to the death of nine Turkish peace activists.

Why did the Saville Inquiry cost almost twenty times the 9/11 Commission?

The Saville Inquiry into the deaths of 14 people sat for 12 years and cost £191.2m. The official inquiry into the 9/11 attack on America in which 2,995 people lost their lives lasted for 20 months, interviewed more than 1,200 witnesses in 10 countries, reviewed more than 2.5m pages of documentation and cost $15m.

ALAN HART: Zionism’s Colonial Enterprise Is Doomed, but…

Ronen Bergman, a senior military and political analyst for the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, recently wrote what I consider to be one of the most important articles for decades on the subject of the mindset of the Zionist state’s military and political leaders. It was reproduced in the Wall Street Journal under the headline Siege Fatigue and the Flotilla Mistake.

Getting to the main thrust of his analysis, Bergman wrote this (my emphasis added):

GORDON DUFF: THE CARDBOARD LOTHARIOS

ANALYZING STAGED WORLD CONFLICT

In 2006, North Korea exploded a plutonium based nuclear weapon, an unsuccessful test of either a “found” nuke in poor repair, or something poorly designed. America had predicted that they were at least five years from this capability, we always hear the same story, everyone is five years from having nuclear weapons. On May 25th, 2009, North Korea exploded its second bomb, its first clearly identifiable nuclear weapon, a “Hiroshima sized” bomb, tiny by US standards. What we didn’t say is that the signature of this bomb had been seen before.

Wiles : Rise People, Rise

By Rich Wiles

Through the recent murderous events in international waters Israel has once again shown its true colours and its total disregard for humanity. From the global reaction over the last week it seems that, for once, a huge majority of people around the world have seen these attacks in a clear light. Let us call a massacre a massacre. Whilst these atrocities have clearly appalled millions of people, the inhumanity of the Zionist regime should have come as no surprise, for this is nothing new.

Australian Parliament : Julia Irwin MP’s Adjournment debate speech and Minister Craig Emerson’s reply 16June10

MUST READ:

Editors Note: Mrs Julia Irwin’s MP adjournment debate speech on 16th June, 2010 in the Australian Parliament and the Government minister Dr Craig Emerson’s shameful disassociation on behalf of the government at the conclusion of the adjournment debate.

If Craig Emerson’s comment reflects the Labor Party’s policy on this matter as Israel and its merciless treatment of the whole nation of Palestine is clearly reprehensible, then sadly the compromised parliamentarians both in Australia and in the US Congress is an indication that Israel has captured and is dictating the foreign policies of both countries and whereas one could once have expected an independent stance on matters of importance from Australia, such as the Middle East, this appears not to be the case.
